In 2011 UC Davis was designated as a lead host U.S. university in a major initiative focused on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) fields sponsored by the Brazilian government. The initiative directs Brazilian faculty, postdoctoral researchers, graduate and undergraduate students to conduct research and study at the top universities in the world.
The UC Davis Extension Center for International Education manages the visiting undergraduate students from Brazil Scientific Mobility Program (BSMP) for six to twelve months on a non-degree basis in the STEM fields. A key component of the Scientific Mobility Program is an academic training/research experience. Due to UC Davis’ unique strengths, many students have chosen to work directly with a faculty mentor on our campus.
Since the program launched in January 2012, UC Davis has hosted more than 400 undergraduate students from Brazil and is the most popular destination among all U.S. universities for Brazilian undergraduates.
